Feline Urologic Syndrome - personal experiences

Feline Urologic Syndrome experience by - Cari
Sudbury, Ontario, Canada

I had 2 male cats who both had this horrible condition. Midnight was a jet black DSH. He had his first surgery when he was 6 years old and a second when he was 9. He died this past November of pancreatic cancer at the ripe old age of 19 1/2. My vet was wonderful with Middie and he recovered very well. My other cat, Clyde was a whole different experience. We had to take him to a different vet as our regular vet was out of town. This vet did the surgery and then told me I had to take him home because he was going away for the weekend and would have no one there to watch the cat! He sent him home with a catheter. Clyde died during the night. Midnight had to stay with the vet for the night both times he had the surgery. I think that any vet who would send a cat home in that condition should have their license pulled! It wasn;t a matter of our not being willing to pay....our animals become members of our family. T%alk to your vet and make sure you trust him. My regular vet actually cried when he found out that Clyde had passed away, just like he cried with us when we had to put Middie down....choosing a vet for your animals should be just as important as choosing a doctor for yourself!!!
