Narcolepsy-Cataplexy is a rare condition in which the cat falls to the ground, suddenly asleep. Narcolepsy-Cataplexy is categorized under the umbrella of seizure disorders. These episodes may happen once or several times a day and last from several seconds to several minutes.
Symptoms of Narcolepsy-cataplexy
Narcolepsy-Cataplexy is characterized by the cat abruptly and without warning falling to the ground, seemingly asleep.
Treatments for Narcolepsy-cataplexy
If you think you cat is having a Narcolepsy-Cataplexy episode, do not put your fingers in it's mouth. Cover your cat with a blanket. If you cat is experiencing an episode of Narcolepsy-Cataplexy, making a loud noise or petting your cat will reawaken it, returning it to normal. Immediately following, call your vet. Seizure disorders can often be treated with medications under strict veterinary guidance.
